I decided to dust off the Bernina and try my hand at making a quilt square for a door hanger. Using the Beach House line of Blackbird Designs fabrics, I made a Sarah's Choice block. I love how the bright colors look against the green door, and despite having to call my mother every 5 minutes to ask her how to do this-or-that (regarding piecing), I had a perfectly enjoyable time sitting at my machine again.

This is part of a wire window basket I have mounted on the railing on my front porch. I've lined it with a coconut liner and planted orange impatiens in it now.
