Every year my mother brings over cupcakes for my girls for Valentine's Day. Or is it Easter? Maybe both. Either way, my gluten-intolerant self isn't supposed to have them. See that empty space where one used to be? Well crud-it-all, I had to have one. I've already got the couch good and ready and the coffee set to brew for later, when I'm in a fetal position and need something to make me feel better.

Other than a slight sharpen from TRA, I left this image SOOC. In my endeavor to learn how to view and work with light, I found it interesting how much less appealing artificial light is when compared to natural - in the same image. The cupcakes on the right are being illuminated by a small flourescent kitchen light, while the chocolate cupcakes on the left are being lit by a bright window. I realize the vanilla cupcakes, being yellow, would naturally look somewhat warmer than the darker ones, but their icing is all the same color.
The only bad thing about my studying this photograph so hard is that I'm now wanting to eat that cupcake directly behind the empty space in the container, which is the exact cupcake I put the focal point on.
Better go add a few pillows to the couch.
