After a long month of market preparations, I decided to sit down with a sampler that I didn't design. This one was stitched by 10-year-old Frances Eden in 1809.. okay, not exactly this one, but she did stitch the original. I'm stitching the reproduction, and very much enjoying the unusually bright colors. Adam and Eve motifs were very popular back then, and they've recently become so popular to a point that the modern needlework world is positively saturated with them.
My favorite thing about the young Miss Eden's sampler is the verse she chose to use:
Make use of present time because thou must
Shortly take up thy lodging in the dust
It's dreadful to behold the setting sun
And night appear before thy work is done.
Tamron 17-50 2.8 - f/3.5 - 1/15 - ISO 1600
Gorgeous, my Frances need to come back out. Glad you are getting some time just to stitch too :-).
