Yesterday we covered up in sunscreen and headed out to the annual Police Picnic for a full day of swimming, hot dogs, roller coasters, and reading. (The "reading" part would be me, thank you very much.)
The water was a wee bit chilly after the rains we've had lately, but Sophie managed...
There were legions of hot dogs to be eaten...
And juice bottles to be opened...
Two horses to be ridden, volunteered by the Omaha Police Mounted Patrol...This one is Smokey:

Here are Sabrina and Sophie, going all crazy-insane on the world's shortest roller coaster ride (by the time they got their arms up, the ride was over):
And there was even a Bodybuilding Show. (I demand a refund.)
The competitors got a little testy...

And what would a proper Annual Police Picnic be without Sophie and her very favorite police man, lounging in the Lazy River?
It was a good day, and I'm glad I brought my book. I sort of disqualified myself from wearing a swimsuit or competing in the fitness competition with those legions of hotdogs I consumed.
